Tejay, Marla, Kalan, even Alija, are all strong, and work hard to get what they want. The previous two are about half-and-half each. Indeed more could have been made of the slave system in Hythria and I would have liked a more varied viewpoint on this. While some of the relationships or character behaviour made me feel uneasy, I think this was intentional and addressed in ways that fit both the world built and the narrative.

The jennifdr was also rather good, but I felt a little let down because it covered some of the story-lines well, others got a passing mention, or one or two little ones were not covered at all.

At every point where the magic system can be explored, when the Harshini are involved, for example, Fallon asks us to just believe that the ability to tap and mold magic has been intuitively downloaded into magic users’ brains by off-screen Harshini work.

This conclusion of the Wolfblade Trilogy is also a bit fsllon a prelude to the Demon Child Trilogybecause even though I’ve read it before and I think it’s better to read in that orderI’m interested to read it again after, because the developments jennkfer Wolfblade probably will cast a new light on what happens in Demon Child. A few things ruined this book for me. Marla Wolfblade is reeling from the loss of her closest confidant, Elizaar the Fool, who taught her the Rules of Gaining and Wielding Power, and helped shape her into a force in Hythria. I adored Kalan growing up to be so cunning and powerful and Golan Mir was so good with Marla. While I found it extremely difficult to put this down, I’m a little torn about it. This book is powerful not only because of it’s well-rounded characters and the fact Fallon isn’t afraid to pull her punches I’m always kind of disappointed in books where warloord dies because it doesn’t seem realistic but because of the female characters.

Waflord reading this book you really should read the two earlier books in the trilogy – Wolfblade and Warrior. This is one of my favourite warlrd and is something I always go back to when I’m in a slump. She delivers a stunning body blow to Alija and the two women take off the gloves figuratively speaking and go for broke in the last chapter of the war they’ve been politely and jennifer deadly fashion waging against each other for 25 years.

A lot better than the first two.
